Textbooks

What's the worst possible expense for a college student, i'm not quite sure, but textbooks rank high on the list.  I wonder if they were trying to find an answer to the question how can we charge the most possible money to probably the poorest people in the U.S.?  Welcome to college where after we charge you thousands in tuition we expect you to buy 400 dollar textbooks you will almost never use.
